UPDATE (Race Recap): The 2017 TNGA saw a huge group of participants, over 40 to be exact, and only 3 of those were ITT riders. While the 2013 record remains unbroken there were a number of riders finishing between the 2-3 day marker, which is quite fast if you ask us. This year first place was taken by Sean Mailen (2 days, 3 hours, 35 minutes). Second and third place were taken by Hart Robinson (2 days, 4 hours, 50 minutes) and David Collins (2 days, 10 hours, 39 minutes). To listen to some of the finishers call in upon completing the TNGA and updates along the route, check out this link for the MTBCast

The Trans North Georgia Adventure is a 350-mile mountain bike route through the mountains of northern GA on trails, forest roads and paved roads featuring challenging terrain, beautiful scenery and over 56,000 ft of climbing. Approximately 72% of the route is unpaved, and the journey from the South Carolina border westward across the Chattahoochee National Forest and Cohutta Wilderness to the Georgia-Alabama border west of Rome, Ga is a beast.

Billed as an adventure — ‘not a race’ — finishing times are recorded and documented for comparison. But, there is no podium nor prize. The current record is held by Eddie O’dea at 1:14:57 (2013). Participants are required to register, sign a waiver, and carry a SPOT tracker, but there is no fee to participate.

The race starts near Mountain Rest South Carolina. For more details on the route, check out our photos and route guide, here.
