The 8bar team started and finished their loop in Marrakesh, which lies about 50 kilometers north of the Atlas Mountains. The idea behind the trip was to first cross the mountains straight to the south and ride along the southern slope before crossing the range once again to point back towards Marrakesh. They planned their route on gravel and dirt tracks, as well as paved roads with as little traffic as possible. Ultimately they covered 840 kilometers and an overall altitude gain of 12,000 meters.

Bleak, but awesome. The color coordination on the kit . . . can’t decide if it was really cool or sorta corny. Interesting that at day 7, the boys weren’t wearing the exact same kit.

In their blog they have a list with all the equipment used. About the bikes, they’re all the same model. They ran a kickstarter campaign to start producing it, in the campaign page you can see a lot of details about it.

Would 32 tyres be enough for this trip? Or that to skinny for the gravel?
