You might know PEdAL ED for their functional and fashionable road cycling apparel — as well as their major sponsorship role in the Transcontinental Race. But, the Italian brand also has an extensive collection of backcountry expedition gear including the impressive Mido Boot, as well as jackets, shorts, gloves, and baselayers. Now PEdAL ED has expanded their adventure line with a new set of bikepacking bags, made in Italy, in collaboration with bag maker, Miss Grape. With a waterproof denim outer fabric, they certainly look quite unique…
Designed with long distance rides in mind and tested during the Transcontinental Race 05, the new bikepacking bag lineup includes a seat pack, top tube bag, handlebar roll, and half frame pack. Each is constructed with a new lightweight waterproof denim fabric, equipped with Riri waterproof zips, and trimmed out with reflective details.
The Internode half-frame bag
As with all of the bags in PEdAL ED’s roster, the Internode is constructed from a waterproof denim fabric that the company claims is fully rain resistant, thanks to its internal PU coating. According to their website it’s made up of 76% cotton, 11% PU, 6% acrylic, and 7% nylon. The Internode is also equipped with a nice Riri “Aquazip” M8 zipper. The bag comes in one size, a medium which holds about 4 liters and retails for $115 USD. Learn more at PEdALED.com.
TENDRIL Handlebar Roll
The Tendril is PEdALED’s 100% waterproof handlebar bag. It is designed to be mounted on both drop bars and MTB handlebbars. The bag is closed by rolling the two sides in and squeezed by a compression system to minimize its external dimensions. The Tendril is 18CM in diameter with a length of 35 TO 65CM and holds up to 17 liters. The Tendril retails for $125 USD. Learn more at PEdALED.com.
Cluster Seat Bag
The PEdAL ED Cluster 13 is also made from waterproof denim and features a two strap seat post design. The bag is 15CM X 18CM X 19CM with a max volume of 13 liters. It retails for $160. Learn more at PEdALED.com.
NODE Top Tube Bag
The Node is PEdAL ED’s top tube bag which, as with most other TT bags, can either be attached to the top tube at the headset, or at the seat-post towards the rear. One velcro strap attaches the bag to the top tube while another (with three height positions) is used to fix the bag to the headset or the seat-post. The Node retails for $59 USD.
