HUNT Bike Wheels has introduced two new 650B Road Plus “Adventure” wheels… the lightweight HUNT AdventureCarbon Disc and the MASON x HUNT AdventureDynamo Disc with a SONdelux Dynamo.

The rise of 650b wheels has sparked a lot of momentum in the adventure/gravel bike market. With the same diameter as a 700c/30mm tire, a 650b rim paired with a 2.0″ ‘Road Plus’ tire can transform a skinny-tired bike into versatile dirt road and gravel machine. HUNT has been on the frontlines of this movement, first with their AdventureSport Disc wheels and now with two new offerings destined to convert even more roadies.

HUNT AdventureCarbon Disc

As the first carbon rim wheelset in the UK company’s Adventure category, the AdventureCarbon Disc is made for fast, fun, and highly versatile adventure bikes, according to HUNT. Still, HUNT has managed to keep these wheels relatively well-priced. On the outset, £879 ($1,223 USD) seems quite fair when compared to many other $2k+ carbon wheelsets on the market. And, like all of HUNT’s other wheelsets, they come complete with tubeless tape and valves, spare spokes, a spoke key, axle adapters (for a variety of sizes), and a pair of 6-bolt disc adapters.

At 30mm with a 24mm IW (internal width), the AdventureCarbon rim is a bit wider than its predecessor, the 20mm IW AdventureSport Disc. This creates a proper tire profile when paired with wider 47-54mm (2.1″) tires. The 22mm deep rims also have a hookless and tubeless-specific H-lock bead-seat and a 30mm asymmetric profile.

The wheelset comes with 4Season Disc Hubs with large double-sealed main bearings, a 7075-T6 axle and freehub, and a steel spline insert. The hubs have a centre-lock disc mount, but there are 6-bolt disc adapters included. HUNT also offers an optional SRAM XD Driver.

Each wheel has 28 aero bladed, triple butted J Bend spokes (2.0-2.2/0.95-2.0), and 14 gauge, 12mm corrosion resistant brass nipples. HUNT also claims the rims have 3K weave reinforced spoke holes to increase durability in high stress areas.

The HUNT AdventureCarbon Disc wheelset weighs in at 1,425g and is available for pre-order today at £879 Pair ($1,223 USD) with free worldwide shipping. Learn more at HuntBikeWheels.com.

MASON x HUNT 650B AdventureDynamo Disc with a SON Dynamo

In addition, HUNT also released the 650B AdventureDynamo, a wheelset with 20mm IW Mason + Hunt alloy rims equipped with a SONdelux Dynamo. The SONdelux is the first hub dynamo with a generator specifically designed for modern LED lights (such as Edelux and B&M Cyo). It’s also a great charging hub.

At 25mm (20mm internal), the AdventureDynamo rim shares the dimensions with the AdventureSport Disc, ideal for 28mm-47mm tires and fits up to 54mm (2.1″). The 24mm deep rims also have a hookless and disc-specific H-lock bead-seat with a 25mm asymmetric profile.

A 27.5i25mm (i=internal width) rim paired with a light 2.6in wide tire would make for an excellent Plus Gravel/Adventure bike. It would be fairly light while still delivering some of that high volume, low pressure Plus magic.
