Bombtrack never ceases to amaze with their ever-expanding line of interesting bikes, many of which are built with bikepacking in mind. Their 2018 lineup was quite impressive. Now, the German bike company has introduced the latest addition to their Hook range, a lineage of off-tarmac drop-bar bikes. The Bombtrack Hook ADV is the suspension-equipped alter-ego to the established Hook EXT, a 27.5″-specific monster cross rig. Find more photos, geometry charts, and the full build kit below…

According to Bombtrack, the Hook ADV is inspired by the John Tomac-era cross-country bikes, but its geometry is designed from the ground up to be a “hyper” gravel bike. Built around a Columbus Chromor steel frame, the Hook ADV features a Rival 1 drivetrain, Rival hydraulic brakes, a Ritchey cockpit, and WTB i23 rims. And with a 40mm MRP Baxter suspension fork, a KS dropper post, and WTB Ranger tires (2.25″ on the front and 2.0″ on the rear), Bombtrack reckons it’s their most niche bike to date.

But that’s not all, the Hook ADV also has a few more tricks up its sleeve. For one, it’s the first production bike we know of to feature triple bosses on the seat stays. That means you can mount a ManyThing cage or bottle cage in that position on each side. According to Bombtrack, this may not be ideal on the small size if the rider has big feet, but otherwise, it’s working very well in most cases.

In addition, Bombtrack specced the Hook ADV with a T47 Bottom Bracket. If you are unfamiliar, picture a 68mm PressFit 30 shell with 47x1mm threads. That’s the T47 standard in a nutshell. It was created by Chris King and Argonaut Cycles to eliminate creaks and squeaks in oversized BBs, all the while allowing plenty of real-estate for oversized frame tubes as well as compatibility with many crank axle sizes.
