China Express 4000

The track that we’ll suggest to each rider, but not mandatory, is 90% sealed. Each rider is obliged to cross the following cities, and this is mandatory :

Jiayuguan 嘉峪关市
Zhangye 张掖市
Lanzhou 兰州市
Guyuan 固原市
Xi’an 西安市
Zhengzhou 郑州市
Hengshui 衡水市

The race starts on July 30th, 2018 at 9:00 am in Ürümqi 乌鲁木齐 and finishes at the The Forbidden City Beijing. There isn’t any limit of time and there isn’t any money prize. Your prize will be nothing more that honour and the possibility to live an amazing adventure! For the China Express 4000, the rules are simple… race under your own power, self supported; This means no outside assistance, no support cars, and NO DRAFTING. This bikepacking race was inspired by the other grand tours of bikepacking: the Tour Divide, the Trans Am Bike Race and the Transcontinental. Similar to these races, the rules for the China Express 4000 are simple and largely self-policed. The rules attempt to embody the spirit of self-support and fairness for all riders.

This race is not for everyone and those who wish to ride the China Express 4000 should evaluate whether they are ready to take on such a serious challenge in an unforgiving environment; so in case you’ll take part not in good shape, take your time for this amazing track because the northern silk road from Ürümqi 乌鲁木齐 to the The Forbidden City Beijing has a number of distinct sectors with different characteristics. The itinerary runs along the famous China’s Silk Road, full of historical memories that leaves an indelible trace in the hearts of the riders who will decide to ride.

Our main purpose is to promote the bikepacking experience more than the race. This is the reason why we’ll prize each rider for his daily report refunding the amount of 5,00€ each (only one report per day will be refunded) The daily report have to be not less that 100 words, in english if it’s possible and with at least 5 photos took in different places. Therefore our new concept is a “dynamic” registration fee that each rider can decrease till a maximum of 100,00€ (20 daily personal reports on the entire race) So t​he fee become a rider’s contribution to the cost of establishing and running the event. The time limits for applicants will be on May 30, 2018.
