The route is 550 kilometers with 22,000 meters of elevation gain. It runs over 37 passes — which are each just at the end of a downhill, not at the top of the climb… this ride on the ridge.

Those who take part in the GEA Bike Trail will cross all the Tuscan Apennine mountains from South to North. The route crosses two National Parks and seven preserved park areas, including Appennino Tosco-Emiliano Park, UNESCO world heritage. Unique, hard, spectacular, wild.

It’s one of the hardest bikepacking trails in the world and was ridden for the first time by bike in 2016, after 32 years from its opening as a hiking route by Reinhold Messner, perhaps the world’s most famous mountaineer.
The GEA Bike trail ride is not a race. You can ride it when you want between 06/30/2018 to 09/30/2018, just subscribe and start your adventure. If you can, take part in one of the group starts, on 06/30/2018 and 08/11/2018 at 08:00 local time, it will be a great experience!
